For the last week I’ve been listening to Stevie Wonder’s Definitive Collection. Music always connects to memories and I remember my Dad playing this LP over and over as a kid. I’ll share my father’s music and film influences in another post, but wanted to share a memory I just received in the mail from a cousin in Maryland.

In case you can’t read the words, my cousin Rick shared that he and his brother, Eric, remember my Dad sending them fireworks in the mail when they were 8 years old. This solidified my Dad’s status as ‘coolest Uncle’ to them. And Rick is right, today that would be a ‘federal crime’. My father was also a jokester. And he would make my Aunt mad by placing an empty beer can in a very expensive antique vase. All in good fun. It’s not that he didn’t appreciate nice things, I think it was just my Dad’s ‘Big Lebowski’ nature that reared its hilarious head often.

Thanks to so many for the thoughtful and heartfelt cards of late. Love, Christine
