It’s great for people to ask for more – especially when they ask and miss your personal blog. I do need to write more. I know this. But I don’t post as much as I write and I also think that’s okay. “A writer writes”, as ‘they say’.
Unfortunately, we do a myriad of other things too.
I’ve been thinking a lot about writing and what I truly enjoy doing. Many of you can relate. What is your ideal job? And I mean in any field. For me, when I rewind my life, I always loved words, proverbs, short sayings, op-eds, obits, quotes, weird sayings and such. I loved plays and novels but if I am truly honest, I loved these more
They were simple but profound. People underestimate the short and the quick. But it is also powerful, otherwise why would so many wise people have written them down?
So in between being a mom, my ideal job(s) would be creating with my current writing partners. I adore talking shop, film, dialogue and especially in a non-isolating mode of creation. It’s mentally healthier too. That truly does bring me joy.
In addition, I’d have a column like a Landers or my other role model, Emily Post. I love her and I wish it was required reading for everyone today!
I read that writing fortunes for the cookies is a legit and well-paying job. I’d take that too. However, I am sure that’s a rare find. And no, I did not make that up.
So I commit to post more even if it’s shorter. I’m pulling some excerpts from Women, Wit & Wisdom, circa 2015-16. They are all original and something that should get published one day.
I welcome the break from the long and pontificating blogs that we all read and post. Short, sweet and hopefully meaningful to someone out there.
I’m in. Also, because I still do my own laundry and have a ton.
Be well,
Christine
